Weddings in Parliament Debate on 9 Nov 2020

Posted 2nd November 2020 Dear ABWB Founding Members,

We'd like to share some important information about an upcoming Parliament debate that will directly affect the wedding industry.

On the 9th November, Parliament is scheduled to hold a debate on socially distanced capacities at weddings, resulting from a public petition on this subject.

This is the first opportunity for our sector to have a focused debate of any nature since lockdown back in March. It’s a chance to put pressure on the Government to ensure we exit the latest lockdown with parity and hope for weddings.

The boundaries of the debate are partly limited by its title, however a number of the Associations representing wedding businesses have come together to agree a briefing note for the debate so we can ensure a strong and clear message is put to the Government.

We ask you, once again, to please reach out once again to your MP and:

1. Ask them to sign up for the debate

The core of a template letter is provided as well, but please do tailor it to reflect your situation and communications to date with your MP through this period.

2. Provide them with two documents, the briefing note and appendix, so that they are fully informed.

As always, thank you for your support and participation in the ABWB. We are in this together.

Many thanks,

The COVID-19 Venue Committee
