Venue Committee Update

Updated: Oct 15, 2020

9th October 2020 Dear ABWB Members,

In the past few months our industry has experienced so many ups and downs amidst wedding restriction changes, CMA guidance updates and more.

The ABWB Venue Committee has been working tirelessly to communicate with the Government the importance of weddings to our economy, the unfairness that our industry has experienced, and the ability of weddings to be a worthwhile opportunity for testing and tracing.

It has become increasingly clear that the Government leaders, responsible for deciding the rules that our industry must abide by, remain largely uninformed on how our industry works and what we can do to provide a COVID-safe environment for weddings. We have been treated unfairly as an entire industry, and we strive to bring attention to this and our industry's abilities to move forward safely.

We're sharing 3 documents for you to review:

1) On 25 September 2020 we submitted a letter to Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, which we encourage you to read.

2. On 8 October 2020, we released the ABWB Weddings Manifesto, which highlights the fairness and support needed for our industry, and outlines suggested plans for our industry to move forward.

3. To further educate Government officials, we urge you to please write a letter to your MP (template provided) and attach the weddings manifesto. This will help a variety of leaders better understand our industry, recognise our point of view, and appreciate the possibilities we suggest to re-open in a COVID-safe manner.

As always, thank you for your support and participation in the ABWB. We are in this together.

Sincerely,

Duncan Clark
